The industrial origins of the Mainetti family – currently the majority shareholder of the Group – date back to the end of the 19th century in Rome with the metal-work fabrication. |
1910-1943 |
Beginning of the activity in Rome of a company specialized in metal-work fabrication with a workshop situated in proximity to Circo Massimo conceived for the production of light to average to heavy metal work. A sophisticated craft division was maintained, responsible for the gates of the Vittoriano in Piazza Venezia a project by architect Manfredo Manfredi and for which some metal components were also realized for Palazzo del Viminale. |
1945-1978 |
The activity in Italy continued after World War II, focusing on the realization of important mechanical plants on behalf of public and private clients including: the Synchrotron in Frascati, the Alfa Romeo in Arese, the steelworks in Terni and Taranto and the “Birra Peroni” and “Chinotti Neri” factories. |
1975-1997 |
From the mid-1970s to the end of the 1980s important real estate and social housing development initiatives, were realized in several Italian cities but mainly in Rome, for a total amount equivalent in current value to approximately 2 billion euros. |

Following the authorization of the Bank of Italy, establishment of the Michelangelo Fund, the first Italian closed-end real estate fund reserved for institutional investors. |

Michelangelo Fund acquires a stake in the Flatiron Building in New York |

Donatello Fund - David Sub-fund, acquires Galleria Colonna in Rome, renamed Galleria Alberto Sordi. |

Liquidation upon maturity of the Michelangelo Fund with an internal rate of return of 8.44%. |
2012 |
Liquidation of the Baglioni Fund with an internal rate of return of 7.69%. |
2015 |
Extension of operations – with the authorization of the Bank of Italy - for the management of funds investing in credits. |

Launch of the first fund specialized in Non-Performing Loans (NPL). |

Launch of 24 real estate funds, 3 of which liquidated and 1 merged. |

launch of the social responsibility fund, Fondo Sant’Alessio (Ipab). |
2019 | Sorgente SEIN, Society for Energy and Infrastructure, is born. Controlled by Sorgente Group Italia, its focus is on the construction of plants for producing of biofuels, particularly biomethane and bioethanol, as well as the development of initiatives in the photovoltaic and wind power sector, aimed at reducing C02 emissions. |

Sorgente Group Italia has reorganized its operating areas focusing on clean energy and energy efficiency, particularly, in the context of alternative investments, such as energy and circular economy. On this purpose, it will make use of its Irish investment management platform, called Sorgente Global Investments, also active in real estate, which operates as an Irish collective investment scheme (ICAV). |
